Finding Joy and Building Memories

Many times finding joy hidden in the little things results in actually finding big things.

Moments you spend with your child reading a book may seem to be a small thing. However, what she will remember is the time spent together.

Finding joy in what seems to be an ordinary moment in time actually turns that moment into a lifetime of memories. It’s the simple joys of life you have to learn to cherish. Simple joys become the foundation of your memories. The memories where finding joy will last a lifetime.

Where I Found Joy

I can remember as a young boy finding joy in a plate of biscuits. As simple as this may sound, it was easy finding joy walking through my mother’s kitchen.

There was always a plate of biscuits on my mother’s stovetop and I loved those biscuits. Now, if there happened to be a piece of left over ham, it was even better.

My friends and I would come in from romping around outside, run through the kitchen grabbing a biscuit on our way to our next adventure.

At the time, we never gave it a second thought, other than those biscuits sure tasted good.

Thanks to my mom for always have a plate of good biscuits on the stove.

I’m sure that she was finding joy in all of us kids always laughing and having fun as we passed through her kitchen.

Building Memories

Little did I realize that I was building a foundation of memories of my own.

It wasn’t the biscuits; rather it was finding joy in my mother’s kitchen and the love she had for us kids.

When you are in a memory-building situation, realize that finding joy in the moment is something you need to cherish.

That moment will never come again. Embed it in your heart and in your vault of memories.

This way you can recall it at will when you are feeling the need to smile.
